Bulldogs Keep Dancing

Hitchcock Bulldogs vs San Antonio Cole Cougars

RETROGRADE

Elijah Sherwood got things started for the Bulldogs as they started slowly trying to find their footing. The first quarter of play was a lot of up-and-down action as both teams were trying to find their rhythm. Hitchcock continued to work the interior of the game and walked away with the lead at the end of the first quarter 10-6 over San Antonio Cole. The Bulldogs picked up right where they left off to start the second quarter by attacking the basket offensively. On the defensive side of the ball, they were super active and challenged everything at the rim. Damien McDaniel's defensive effort in the second quarter was huge as it allowed them the ability to open up the lead. Hitchcock went into the half up 26-14 over San Antonio Cole. In the third quarter, Hitchcock came out swinging and pushed the lead up to as big as 17 points, but the determination and will of San Antonio Cole gave them a nice pushback late in the third quarter as they went on a 7-point run but the bulldogs were able to get a couple of buckets to close out the quarter. 38-23 Hitchcock. Hitchcock kept their foot on the gas and didn’t let up. Coach Jordan-Foster never stalled the ball even though his squad was up by 20 points during a nice stint. The Bulldogs were able to hold on to the lead and walk away as victors as they marched on to the UIL 3A State Championship game on Saturday.

TOP PERFORMERS

Elijah Sherwood

6’5” Jr. | Hitchcock

Elijah displayed his athleticism on both sides of the floor. He was able to finish around the rim and he hit a big-time three-pointer. He also was a menace on the glass. He was explosive from the wing with his first step allowing him to get where he wanted on the floor. He finished the game with 20 points, 8 rebounds,

Damien McDaniel

6’1” Sr. | Hitchcock

(UNLV-Football)

Damien showcased his ability to be a ball hawk on the hardwood. Although he is a standout cornerback on the gridiron, he is still tough on the basketball court. His defensive prowess allowed him to set the tone for the game. His ability to attack the rim and finish through contact was big for them as well. He finished the game with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 assists.

Lloyd Jones III

6’5” Jr. | Hitchcock

(Texas Tech-Football)

Lloyd was a load in the paint on the offensive side as a scorer, and defensively as a shot-altering machine and rebounder. He displayed good hands and the ability to finish over and through opponents. He finished the game with 17 points, 13 rebounds,

Logan Beckstorm

6’4” Jr. | San Antonio Cole

It is a rare thing to see a player hit more than two trey balls in the Alamodome. Logan shot the ball well when he had a clean look. Depth perception is a real thing in an arena so I can only imagine how well he shoots the ball in a regular high school gym.  He finished with 12 points on 4/8 shooting from the perimeter.

Aijan Hasadinratana

6’1” Sr. | San Antonio Cole

He started the game off slow but picked up his efforts in the second half of the game. He shot the ball well from three-point land in the second half of the game. With shots going in his efforts picked up as well. He finished the game with 16 points and 5 rebounds.
