Reviews with Rob | Shadow Creek vs Cypress Falls

After three days of grueling basketball, two teams stood. Shadow Creek (13-2) took on the CyFalls Eagles (9-1). This game was billed as a battle of speed versus size, as Shadow Creek has elite guard play and CyFalls has tremendous size on the wings and interior. ℅ 2025 G Michael Collins came out with a mindset to attack the paint early and often. He would score 6 early points to set the tone of not being intimidated by CyFalls’ size. Loyola of Chicago commit Brayden Young would keep CyFalls in striking distance with his activity and size. Every time it seemed like Shadow Creek would take control of the game, Brayden would come up with a big basket or good defensive play. ℅ 2025 G DJ Baines would hit some timely perimeter jumpers to take some of the pressure off of the inside. After the dust settled, Shadow Creek would be up by 1 in a tightly contested first half, 18-17.

In the second half, unsigned senior W Kaden Tate would be vital for the Sharks to hold on to the lead. He was virtually unstoppable, as he did it on the offensive and defensive ends. Tate would finish the second half alone with 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks. ℅ 2026 G Jaylen Singleton also contributed big time for Shadow Creek. He would finish the second half with 9 points, and 4 rebounds. CyFalls just couldn’t get anything going offensively. Even with Brayden giving them extra possessions (4 offensive rebounds in the second half), they could not convert. DJ Baines would hit 2 three-pointers but that would be most of the offensive, as they would only score 3 points in the 4th quarter. After some clutch free throws, Shadow Creek would defeat CyFalls 40-32 and capture the prestigious CyHoops Invitational Tournament Championship.

Shadow Creek was led by: Michael Collins with 15 points, and 2 rebounds; Kaden Tate with 9 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 steals; Jaylen Singleton with 9 points, 7 rebounds

Cypress Falls was led by: Brayden Young with 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks; DJ Baines with 11 points
